What are some of your family's holiday traditions? OR What are you most looking forward to over Holiday Break?
For example, if you were Bob Cratchit from A Christmas Carol, you might write:
I look forward to going down the slide at Cornhill twenty times in honor of Christmas Eve and then playing blindman's buff again like a boy. Taking Tiny Tim to church is always special because of his thoughtful observations. My wife's cooking is always a treat, especially her scrumptious goose and Christmas pudding. I look forward to sitting around the fire with my family and passing the custard-cup back and forth while we revel and play games. Even though Mr. Scrooge doesn't understand it, Christmas Day is different from the rest of the days of the year, and I look forward to enjoying it with my family!
My family's tradition is letting my grandmothers guinea pig choose how long after dinner we open presents. the times are 5 minutes 10 minutes 15 minutes 30 minutes or never but that has not been chosen by piggy yet (piggy is the guinea pig).two other family traditions are 1# eating my grand fathers delicious home made pecan pie/bread.2# watching the movies Elf and or rudolf the rednosed reigndeer. That is what i do for christmas
ReplyDeleteWell its not really a tradition but every two weeks before Christmas, wee put up our lights. We have been doing this sence I was born. During the break I will going to my grandmothers house and riding fourwheelers. On Christmas day, my grandma and grandpa will be coming over to my house and we will have a lot of fun. That is what I am basicly doing over the winter break.

ReplyDeleteAll of my holiday traditions are food related. My family always tries to have seven fishes on Christmas Eve, and we try to have cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning. My mom, sister and I usually spend a day to a day and a half baking some scrumptious Ricottta cookies, classic Chocolate Chip cookies, and so many others that I don't even know the names of. We usually have pork or something meaty on the day before Christmas Eve, and that is usually my favorite meal. I enjoy my family's Christmas traditions.

On Christmas day, my family spends time with a lot of relatives. We go to Lexington to visit my dad's parents and my aunt and uncle from New Mexico for lunch. For dinner, we come back to Charlottesville to visit with my mom's parents and my other aunt and uncle from Ohio. We always make a cheesecake for dessert. We always have ham, mashed potatoes, and a lot more. It always tastes really good. My Christmas is always very fun.

My family's tradition is we go down to Buckingham and cut down a tree then we usually put up the tree pretty late. Another thing we do is put up our solar pannel lights then we usually go to bed. Christmas morning we eat breakfast than exchange presents after that we usually visit my grandma.

When we go to my dads grandparents farm we wake up open our stockings then for breakfest we eat Egglescievers. Then we play soccer and football and look at what we got in our stockings. Then we eat lunch. Then we play more soccer and more football while the grownups cook. And then we eat an awesome dinner and desert. And that is what we do!

Our holiday tradition is going to Florida. The thing I am looking forward to most is going to see my step-brother, Matt. We plan on going to the beach, the pool, the arcade, and watching Christmas movies. As a family we always watch "White Christmas" or "The Polar Express." In the last few years we have made it a tradition to eat at Olive Garden on Christmas Eve, because we are usually traveling home from Florida on Christmas day.
ReplyDeleteMy holiday traditions are relaxed. First, we listen to and watch Charlie Brown Christmas, while building a fire, and hagning christmas ortaments on the tree. On the 24th, we listen (on tape) to A Chistmas Carol that my grandpa, who passed away, read, and then recoded on tape. We listen to it usually until midnight, (my mom lets me stay up.) On Chistmas morn, we open the festive presents, then, we go up to my grandmothers house in Maryland for Christmas dinner, and then we get to spend the night. I love Chistmas!!!
ReplyDeleteMy holiday traditions are that every christmas me and my family go over to my great aunts house who lives in Charlottesville (so does the rest of my family luckily). At her house we have a party then eat dinner and open presents. Then we do mystery gifts which is when you by the most random gift you can find that has a strange propose. Then you pass it around and everyone has to guess what it is, like fore example last year my cousin had a pickle grabber which was a fork with retractable prongs which are used to grab the pickle. then whoever can guess the gift gets to keep it. Those are my family traditions.

My holiday traditions are we put up our tree around the 15th and decorate it the day after. We spend about three days baking cookies. On Christmas Eve we have over half of my relatives and me and my Granddad play a game of golf on my wii. On Christmas Day, we go to my Grandmas house and eat a delicious lunch and open presents. I also play on my Uncles IPad.That is what I do for the holidays.

Over Christmas Break I read the book Pop by Gordon Korman. The book was pretty good. It was about a high school sophomore QB named Marcus Jordan, who, when moving from Kansas to New York, finds a practice mate at Three Alarm Park. Marcus practices with him every day, ans he keeps getting hurt. After run-ins with the law, Marcus figures out that it is Charlie ”King of Pop” Popovich, who was a former NFL linebacker. Charlie thinks that he is a teenager and that Marcus is his best friend, Mac. After going through arguments with Charlies son, Troy, Charlies daughter, Chelsea, and Troy's ex-girlfriend, Alyssa, Marcus realizes that the “King of Pop” has early forms of Alzheimer disease caused by repeated concussions. Charlie cannot remember that he is being inducted into his College's Sports Hall of Fame, so Marcus takes him. He loses Charlie to the Police, and while he is being taken back home Marcus says that he has to go to his High School's football game, so the cop takes him there and then Charlie falls off of the grandstand and dies.
ReplyDeleteI would give the book a 4.5 stars because it had football in it and because ending was too short and direct.
